Automated External Defibrillation Course

Defibrillation is the most important single factor in the casualty's survival outcome. Successful defibrillation is largely dependant on timing. The probability of casualty survival progressively decreases by approximately 7-10% for every minute following sudden collapse from cardio respiratory arrest.

A relatively new development in emergency cardiac care is the automated external defibrillator. It internally recognises the critical cardiac arrest arrhythmia and makes accurate reliable judgements about whether a shock is warranted. This makes the previously daunting thought of defibrillation safe and easy to carry out by the appropriately trained first responder.
