First Person on Scene Course Awards

The First Person on Scene (FPOS) course was developed nationally by IHCD (The NHS Ambulance Service Training Awards Body) to give those involved in pre-hospital care the vital knowledge and techniques necessary to manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes until handover to the medical services.

FPOS concentrates on the more important casualty assessment skills, which target the immediate care interventions that make the greatest difference to survival outcome.

There are two core awards available for FPOS candidates:

  • Basic (10 hours)
  • Intermediate (30 hours)

Awards are valid for a three year period.
