Research has shown that employees with any three of the following personal risk factors can have up to a 50% more absence from work:
Focus on improving these risk factors has therefore the potential to produce significant benefits. Despite this, many Occupational Health Service providers pay only lip service to Health Promotion activities and fail to co-ordinate their activities in this important preventive area. Duradiamond Healthcare directs effort at the individual, at groups and in securing management commitment. We believe that a key aim of an effective Occupational Health Service is not only to maintain, but to improve the health and well being of the workforce. This is achieved by raising awareness of both work related and lifestyle health issues and by implementing a rolling programme of health promotion activities based upon the tiered approach below. Whilst we have a large library of Health Promotional material, specific campaigns can be developed and delivered to meet the individual needs of our clients. Occupational Health Promotion CampaignsThese campaigns are designed to prevent/reduce the risk to workers of acquiring Occupational Diseases such as dermatitis, noise induced hearing loss, occupational asthma and hand arm vibration syndrome, plus Occupational Injuries associated with manual handling and repetitive strain. General Health CampaignsThese campaigns are aimed at improving workers’ general health and include advice given on smoking, diet, alcohol, exercise, stress and skin cancers etc. Targeted Health EducationTargeted Health Education campaigns can be initiated following the identification of adverse trends in accident frequency rates or statistics from lifestyle medicals.
