Pre Employment Screening

It is vitally important for employers to establish that prospective employees are fit for the role they have applied for. Experience has shown us that the real value of fitness to work assessments is not to exclude candidates but to identify health issues which need to be addressed prior to their employment. This safeguard ensures the individual concerned does not place themselves or others at risk.

When conducting pre-employment assessments on client’s prospective employees, Duradiamond Healthcare takes care to ensure that the functional requirements of jobs are identified. It is only by comparing these with the functional limitations placed on an individual, who may have a health problem, that an accurate pre-employment assessment can be made.

Pre-employment assessments are carried out using our specifically designed pre employment health questionnaires. Where potentially significant health problems are identified an appointment will be arranged with one of our Occupational Health professionals who will assess the individual. The outcome of the resultant fitness to work assessments will be reported in one of the following ways:

  • Fit
  • Fit subject to job change/modification
  • Temporarily unfit whilst undergoing further investigation/treatment by GP
  • Unfit

Advice about fitness is given only after taking full account of employers’ obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Where safety critical work is to be undertaken our pre employment process defaults to an immediate appointment and clinical assessment. The outcome report is presented in the same format as above.
