Telephone Triage & Consultation

Telephone consultation is becoming an increasingly popular and cost effective method of improving employee access to early physiotherapy intervention. As an increasing number of employees now work from home, or may be geographically widespread, telephone consultation and triage offers a cost effective solution for any company.

Early management of musculoskeletal symptoms leads to a quicker recovery and may either prevent absence or reduce the length of any absences. Telephone consultations offer a Day One solution to any musculoskeletal condition, allowing physiotherapy to be accessed at the time when it is likely to have the greatest impact on the employee’s recovery.

Our expert physiotherapists will carry out a full consultation with your employee and offer advice and self-management specific to the individual. This may also include work related advice if appropriate, and provision of written and/or emailed exercise programmes and advice where indicated.

Why use telephone consultation?

  • Employees receive appropriate and expert advice from the onset of their symptoms.
  • Studies have shown that up to 60% of musculoskeletal symptoms can be effectively managed by telephone triage and advice and do not require a face to face appointment which has an added cost implication to the employer.
  • Where time and productivity would be wasted travelling to a physiotherapist, telephone consultations can provide a practical and cost effective solution by reducing time away from work.
  • This model can be used as a management tool to deliver assessment, advice and exercises where appropriate, can be also used to triage those employees requiring a face to face physiotherapy consultation. If appropriate a further telephone or face to face appointment can be arranged following the telephone consultation.
  • A report detailing any work specific advice can be provided to the employer following the consultation.

This service may be provided in addition to our on-site or off-site physiotherapy services or as an independent service.
